  • The four major global associations in the audiovisual sector —UHD Alliance, Ultra HD Forum, 8K Association and UHD World Association— will participate in this summit, which will also be attended by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) and UHD Spain.
  • The eleventh edition of the 4K HDR Summit will take place from 11 to 14 November, with two face-to-face days (Tuesday 11 and Wednesday 12) at the Cartuja Auditorium —managed by Yventuat Sevilla TechPark and another two virtual days.

The 4K HDR Summit will once again be a meeting point for the four major global associations in the audiovisual sector —the UHD Alliance, Ultra HD Forum, 8K Association and UHD World Association—. Their presence at the eleventh edition of the forum, “where technology and content have time to talk”, means that more than 500 leading global audiovisual companies will be represented in Seville.

The Andalusian capital will once again become the epicentre of Ultra High Definition from 11 to 14 November with the celebration of the eleventh edition of the 4K HDR Summit. It will take place over two days (Tuesday 11th and Wednesday 12th) at the Cartuja Auditorium —managed by Yventu— in Seville TechPark and another two virtual days (Thursday 13th and Friday 14th), when more than 75 4K experts from 30 countries will discuss the present and future of the audiovisual industry at the only conference that brings together leaders in technology and audiovisual content worldwide.

The four major associations in the audiovisual sector, in Seville

UHD Alliance, Ultra HD Forum, 8K Association and UHD World Association, together represent nearly 500 leading companies in the audiovisual sector —manufacturers, film studios, platforms, operators, laboratories and technology companies— that set the direction for the industry in terms of image quality, sound, HDR, 8K, new immersive experiences, artificial intelligence applied to audiovisuals, digital television, new forms of content production and distribution, sustainability in the industry and cloud technologies.

The UHD World Association, the world’s largest Ultra High Definition association with more than 458 members, which works in conjunction with three other major organisations, namely the UHD Alliance, the Ultra HD Forum and the 8K Association, will play a key role in the eleventh edition of the 4K HDR Summit. Rémi Tereszkiewicz, CMO in Europe for the UHD World Association, will participate in the second day of the event, where he will talk about HDR Vivid and Audio Vivid, success stories and opportunities in Europe.

Another association with a significant presence at the eleventh edition of the 4K HDR Summit will be the Ultra HD Forum (24 members), whose recently appointed new president, Sam Matheny, will participate in the day called ‘Presidents’ Day’. In addition, Ian Nock, chairman of the Interoperability Working Group at the Ultra HD Forum and CEO and managing consultant at Fairmile West, and Tonio di Stefano, director of networks and platforms at RAI and chairman of the UltraHD Forum Italia, will participate in this summit, which is now established as a global benchmark for the audiovisual industry.

For his part, Bill Baggelaar, current president of the UHD Alliance —27 members— and one of the main people responsible for its creation in 2015, will talk about the major challenges facing the industry and some of those that this association is working on in particular. These include its well-known Filmmaker Mode, which aims to give consumers the best UHD and HDR experience with a mode that displays content on screen exactly as filmmakers intend it to be seen.

Juan Reyes, Executive Director of the 8K Association, will present the advances in the 8K ecosystem and the global growth of this technology. The association, made up of 22 leading companies in the audiovisual sector, has the mission of educating, certifying and promoting the use of 8K among consumers and professionals. In the last year, the 8K Association has launched new certification programmes for 8K projectors and decoders, while major studios such as Warner Bros, IMAX and MGM are already scanning and restoring classic titles in 8K, thus increasing the availability of content.

Associations promoting Ultra High Definition

The summit will also be attended by major international and national associations, representing an additional number of companies. The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) brings together the main European public broadcasters; its latest figures put the organisation at around 113 members. The EBU’s presence at the eleventh edition of the 4K HDR Summit also coincides with its 75th anniversary. Frans de Jong, senior engineer at the EBU’s Media Fundamentals and Production Technology Unit, will discuss some of the main projects currently being undertaken by the institution, which brings together Europe’s leading broadcasters.

Another important organisation that will be present at the 4K HDR Summit is the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU), which currently has 22 active members. Ines Gdoura, Head of Operations and Production at ASBU, will share experiences in the development of HDR in the Middle East and North Africa region.

For its part, UHD Spain, a Spanish association that promotes Ultra High Definition and currently has 34 members, will play a leading role at the 4K HDR Summit 2025. Its president, Víctor Sánchez, will lead the association’s large delegation, which will present the results of a study on the use, knowledge, understanding and assessment of UHD in Spain by viewers.

Antonio Sanz, Minister of Health, Presidency and Emergencies of the Regional Government of Andalusia, views the UHD Spain exhibition area during the tenth edition of the 4K HDR Summit held in 2024.

In addition, UHD Spain will moderate the panel ‘UHD comes to Spanish regional television stations’, with the participation of RTVA, EiTB, Televisión de Galicia and Telemadrid. The association will also pay tribute to two key figures in the promotion of Ultra High Definition in Spain: Ricardo Medina, founder of Medina Media in 2004 and UHD Spain in 2021, and José Manuel Menéndez, professor at the Higher Technical School of Telecommunications Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) and director of the RTVE-UPM Chair since its creation in 2015. Both key figures in the development of Ultra High Definition in Spain will receive an emotional posthumous recognition for their legacy in the audiovisual industry.
