A top-level agenda will be on the cards at the 4K HDR Summit 2025

  • The eleventh edition of the 4K HDR Summit will take place from 11 to 14 November, with two in-person days (Tuesday 11 and Wednesday 12) at the Cartuja Auditorium in Seville TechPark and another two virtual days.
  • More than 70 experts in Ultra High Definition will participate in this forum, which will feature the participation of 20 countries and the support of more than thirty sponsors with a total of 86 representatives, including institutions, organisations, associations and private companies.

 

The eleventh edition of the 4K HDR Summit will bring together the world’s elite in audiovisual technology and Ultra High Definition (UHD) from 11 to 14 November at the Cartuja Auditorium in Seville TechPark. Over the course of two in-person days (Tuesday 11th and Wednesday 12th) and two virtual days (Thursday 13th and Friday 14th), more than 70 4K experts will participate in the only conference that brings together leaders in technology and audiovisual content worldwide.

With the participation of 20 countries and the support of 30 sponsors, the event consolidates its position as the leading international meeting on innovation in 4K, 8K and HDR worldwide. In total, more than 90 representatives—including institutions, organisations, associations and private companies—make up a first-rate agenda that reflects the global dimension of the meeting.

 

Spain, world leader in promoting UHD

The eleventh edition of the 4K HDR Summit will feature Spain prominently, with more than 16 national entities participating in the conference “where technology and content have time to talk”. The Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Administration, the UHD Spain association, Radio Televisión Española, FORTA, Canal Sur, Televisión de Galicia, EiTB, Telemadrid, Atresmedia and Telefónica, among others, will share all the latest developments and advances in an industry in which Spain is a world leader.

In recent months, Spain has confirmed its leadership in Europe and the world in Ultra High Definition (UHD) transmitted by Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) with the new National Technical Plan for DTT approved in March 2025, which guarantees that citizens can access a top-quality, free television experience. Matías González, Secretary General for Telecommunications, and Julia Criado, Deputy Director of Planning and Management at the Radio Spectrum Management Agency ( ), will share the evolution and future plans to further strengthen this position at the forefront of the audiovisual industry during the opening day.

The opening day of the 4K HDR Summit will also feature Víctor Sánchez, Director of Media and Operations at TVE and President of UHD Spain, and Javier Sánchez, Director of Audiovisual Policy and Public Service at RTVE. In February 2024, the Spanish broadcaster took the lead in Ultra High Definition by making TVE’s La 1 the first DTT channel in the world to begin regular broadcasts in UHD, a milestone that was announced in 2023 at this same forum.

More than a dozen regional, national and international channels will participate in the eleventh edition of the 4K HDR Summit. Among them will be Andalusian public television, represented by Rafael Porras, President of RTVA, Juande Mellado, Director General of RTVA, and Juanma Blanco Poley, Director of Canal Sur Media, who will talk about CanalSur Más, the on-demand television platform, and its commitment to segmented television. The opening day will also feature Pablo Rodríguez de Tembleque, Sales Director at Appear, together with José Luis García Cabrera, Broadcast & Media Manager at Telefónica Servicios Audiovisuales, who will share use cases for Ultra High Definition. Representatives from UHD Spain, SES, Axión and Seville City Council will also be present.

 

International reach of a summit that has established itself as a benchmark

The event will also be attended by 26 international organisations, including the four major global Ultra High Definition associations. Once again, the UHD World Association, the UHD Alliance, the UltraHD Forum and the 8K Association, representing a total of 430 companies and organisations from around the world, will discuss the present and future of 4K and 8K technology globally.

Rémi Tereszkiewicz, CMO in Europe for the UHD World Association, will speak on the second day of HDR Vivid and Audio Vivid, success stories and opportunities in Europe, while Ian Nock, Chairman of the Interoperability Working Group at the UltraHD Forum, will participate on the third day of the summit. The fourth day of the 4K HDR Summit, dedicated to presidents, will feature Bill Baggelaar, President of the UHD Alliance; Juan Reyes, Director of Operations at the 8K Association; and representatives from the UltraHD Forum.

The high-level agenda of the 4K HDR Summit includes several representatives from the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), which is currently celebrating its 75th anniversary. Jacques Donat-Bouillud, Director of France Télévisions, and Tonio Di Stefano, Director of Networks and Platforms at Rai and President of UltraHD Forum Italia, will share a panel with Víctor Sánchez, Director of Media and Operations at TVE, on an e y day that will also feature Ángel García Castillejo, Vice-President of the National Commission for Markets and Competition (CNMC).

The second day of the 4K HDR Summit will also feature Cristiano Benzi, SVP Video Products at Eutelsat; Marta Pérez, Broadcast & Media Project Engineer at Aicox, who will present alongside Fabio Clabot, CEO of Small Pixels, the new frontier of free-to-air television distribution; and Jordi Joaquim, Distribution Manager for Spain and Portugal at AJA.

Jorge de la Nuez, Head of Technology and Operations for Olympic Channel Services, will discuss the challenges of document management, processing, creation and publication of UHD content for a digital platform. For his part, Jatin Dev, Senior Head of Global Partnerships and Sales at Google, will share a manual for monetising premium free-to-air live sports and will participate in the panel ‘Live sports distribution: meeting fan expectations and ensuring value’ moderated by Ateme. The second day will also feature representatives from Elecard and Lawo.

 

The future of UHD is defined in Seville

The third day of the 4K HDR Summit will feature Jorge Rodríguez, Head of Product and Marketing at Hispasat, who will talk about the present and future of UHD in Spain; Xavi Redón, Product Manager at Cellnex; Manuel Ángel Álvarez, Regional Technical Sales Manager for LATAM and Europe at Gsertel; and Aron Randhawa, Senior Product Marketing Specialist at Canon.

Also participating will be Jan de Cock, Director of Codec Development at Synamedia; Tetsuya Hayashida, Principal Research Engineer at NHK; and Carlos Cosme, Innovation Specialist at Globo. Also in attendance will be Nuno Duarte, Sound Designer and Audio Manager at Olympic Broadcast Services; Benjamin Schwarz, COO of Greening of Streaming; and Frans de Jong, Senior Engineer at the Media Fundamentals and Production Technology Unit of the European Broadcasting Union.

The fourth and final day will feature the presidents of the world’s leading Ultra High Definition associations, as well as Olivier Chiabodo, CEO of The Explorers; Prasant Chotanhi, CEO and founder of Travelxp; and Karlos Simón, CEO of Karlos Simón Viajes y Expediciones.

 

Female talent in the audiovisual industry

This 11th edition of the 4K HDR Summit will reserve a space for female talent. The summit will close with the participation of leading women and role models in the sector. Cisco Systems, a global company based in California (United States), will participate with a slot on the empowerment of women in the technology industry, which will highlight women working in networking, cybersecurity, IT and STEM so that they can support each other and help close the gender gap in the technology sector that exists today.

In addition, we will have Johanna Rueda, Technical Manager at Caracol Televisión; Úrsula Romero, CEO of International Sports Broadcasting (ISB); Pilar Crespo, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Andalusian Association of Women in Audiovisual Media (AAMMA) and Producer at Magnetika Producciones; and Irantzu Díez-Gamboa, Regional CEO for North America at Grup Mediapro.

In total, more than 90 representatives from institutions, organisations, associations and private companies (from operators to infrastructure services) will complete a diverse and highly strategic programme that will offer presentations, technological demonstrations and round tables where the latest trends in the sector will be discussed, consolidating Seville as the global epicentre of audiovisual innovation.
