  • From 13 to 16 November, the ninth edition of the 4K HDR Summit will take place at the National Digital Content Pole to showcase the latest in 4K, HDR and 8K technology, among others.

  • It is the main meeting point for the main technical and innovation managers of the Spanish and international audiovisual sector.

  • This ninth edition will also serve as the venue for the Assembly of the Spanish association UHD Spain and the next FORTA Technical Commission.

  • More than 450 professionals and 200 companies participated in the last edition.

The main international meeting on Ultra High Definition (UHD) technology and content is preparing its ninth edition, which will be held over two days (13 and 14 November) at the National Digital Content Hub in Malaga, and two virtual days (15 and 16 November) to give professional attendees the opportunity to access top-level networking and exclusive demos from leading companies in the sector.

MALAGA, CAPITAL OF THE UHD

Malaga has once again become the nerve centre of Ultra High Definition. And the best proof of this is the two first class international conferences. On Monday 13 November, the inaugural day of the 4K HDR Summit will take place and will also serve as a face-to-face meeting to welcome the new members and collaborators of the UHD SPAIN association, which was created in January 2021 and now has 39 members to promote the development of Ultra High Definition (UHD) in Spain. In addition, multinationals, experts and professionals will meet to show the latest advances in this technology.

Tuesday 14 November, which will also be an in-person event, will feature keynote speeches on the most important events of the year in the international audiovisual panorama. These two face-to-face days will also give attendees the opportunity to see exclusive demonstrations by manufacturers and developers with solutions that coexist with Ultra High Definition, such as VR, XR, 5G…

The two virtual days, 15 and 16 November, will feature a multitude of experts who will talk about these technologies and the most advanced projects in Ultra High Definition.

THE CONSOLIDATION OF THE 4K HDR SUMMIT

The different technological solutions that have been successfully applied in the last 12 months will be presented by leading multinationals in the audiovisual sector. The 4K HDR Summit, after eight previous editions, has established itself as the main meeting point for the main technical and innovation managers of the Spanish audiovisual sector.

Since 2015, the 4K HDR Summit has not missed its appointment with the “top engineers” and “top content producers”, who accepted the invitation of Medina Media Events to meet once a year and share the advances and experiences of each one, in order to improve the user experience that viewers would have with Ultra High Definition (UHD) content and receiving devices.

A total of 61 speakers, more than 450 registered professionals and around 200 companies and institutions from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Japan, Poland, Portugal, Spain, India, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States took part in the last edition.

At the 4K HDR Summit 2022, news that crossed borders was announced: RTVE’s 4K broadcast of the World Cup in Qatar, the presentation of the Andalusian Audiovisual HUB, the cameras used by NASA in the Artemis 1 mission, and experimental UHD broadcasts throughout Spain.

An important institutional representation was also present at the last edition of the 4K HDR Summit. The Mayor of Malaga, Francisco de la Torre, described the event as “an opportunity for Spanish companies. Every year we see the evolution in the quality of content”.

On the other hand, Antonio Sanz, Minister of the Presidency of the Junta de Andalucía said that this is “the most important international event in Ultra High Definition. I imagined it to be very good, although after coming here it has exceeded my expectations”.

This ninth edition will also serve as the venue for the Assembly of the Spanish association UHD Spain and the next FORTA Technical Commission.

All the conferences of the 4K HDR Summit of previous editions can be followed throughout the year through its virtual platform, driven by ‘The New Tech Observatory‘ of Medina Media Events. There, attendees can consult the sessions of this next edition, live and VOD, and schedule video meetings with other participants and speakers, as well as visit exclusive online demos and read the latest industry news.
