SPAIN ESTIMATES REACHING 50 DTT BROADCASTERS WITH UHD CONTENT IN 2021

05/11/2021 | 4k Spain

The Vice President of the UHD Spain association, Xavi Redón, will discuss at the 4KHDR Summit, which starts on November 15 at ‘Polo Nacional de Contenidos Digitales’ in Malaga, the deployment of Ultra High Definition (UHD) broadcasting centers that Spain currently has and that “is unparalleled worldwide”.

“Spain is a unique UHD test laboratory for Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT). Never before has there been such an extensive test network in any other country in the world to test Ultra High Definition,” says the Cellnex Telecom executive.

Cellnex Telecom is the leading European operator of wireless telecommunications infrastructure and runs more than 128,000 sites in 12 European countries: Austria, Denmark, Spain, France, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Switzerland, and Poland.

Xavi Redón will provide all the details of this land-based UHD deployment in Spain during the seventh edition of the 4KHDR Summit, the world’s most important event on Ultra High Definition (UHD), which annually brings together the leaders of 4K and 8K for a whole week to share experiences, advances, and projects.

The Spanish situation is followed internationally by the World Ultra High Definition Forum (Ultra HD Forum), the World UHD Alliance (UHD Alliance), and the 8K Association. In addition, professionals, multinationals, consultants, and experts from the five continents have been interested in the Spanish situation and are waiting for access to the White Book of the UHD Spain association, which will be presented on November 15 in Malaga.

Xavi Redón, who also leads the Transmission group of the UHD Spain association, highlights the supportive attitude of all members of the association, who have selflessly shared their efforts and knowledge to perform technical tests and demonstrations “that are potentially already accessible to 50 percent of the Spanish population”.

UHD Spain was founded on January 26 to promote Ultra High Definition (UHD) in Spain and currently has 33 members. The recent entry of FORTA, TV3, and Video-MOS added to the 30 founding members: Grupo ADM, Ametic, Ateme, AtresMedia, Axión, Canon, Cellnex, Dolby, Drago/Secuoya, Egatel, Fecotel, Fenitel, Fraunhofer, Gsertel, Grupo Henneo, Hispasat, Hurí, Lavinia, Mediapro, Medina Media, RTVE, Rohde & Schwarz, Sapec, Tedial, Telecom Castilla La Mancha, Televés, TRedess, la Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, UTECA y Vestel.

The 33 members, as well as the associates joining on November 15 in Malaga, will hold their annual Assembly at the ‘Polo Nacional de Contenidos Digitales’ in Malaga, coinciding with the opening day of the seventh edition of the 4KHDR Summit.

Those registered for the 4K HDR Summit 2021 will be able to follow the sessions via streaming, as well as view online demos, attend exclusive webinars, and network through video meetings with speakers and audience members, through the virtual platform created by Medina Media Events.

The seventh edition of the 4K HDR Summit is sponsored by: Polo Nacional de Contenidos Digitales, Ayuntamiento de Málaga, Synamedia, Dolby, Ateme, Fraunhofer, Tedial, Canal Sur Radio y Televisión, Canon, Eutelsat, Axión, Cellnex, Rohde & Schwarz, Hispasat, Nokia, Vestel, Toshiba, JVC, Hitachi, SONO, UHD Spain and Europa Creativa Media Andalucía.
